Hi. My name is Fiona McCrossin. I currently teach at Sydney Girls High. I attended St George Girls High, SCEGGS Darlinghurst, Sydney and Macquarie Universities. I have taught many students who have worked on the BIOTech Futures Challenge over the past few years. In fact a former student, from North Sydney Boys High, first alerted me to the Challenge! I know how much time it takes to do research and develop plans to make a positive difference. While teaching, I also worked to set up national parks in southern NSW https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/visit-a-park/parks/south-east-forest-national-parkand and later, to reduce microplastics in the environment https://www.ausmap.org/. Working on these campaigns involved a lot of research and commitment. It is really wonderful to see over 100 teams working to solve problems in health and the environment in this year's Challenge. Use this space to talk about your ideas. In my experience, sharing ideas is crucial to making a positive difference.

Thanks Fiona! It's nice to meet you, that sounds amazing :) While Sophia and I's project is more health related - it's about stroke therapy using hydrogels - I have a keen interest in helping the environment too!
