WHO IS AN IDEAL MENTOR?

Anyone who is passionate about solving the world's biggest problems and is excited to share their love for STEM. More specifically, you would be well suited if:

-
You are a university student / academic / educator in the science, engineering, or medicine industries.
-
You have a valid working with children's check (or equivalent).
-
You are available for virtual meetings in August-September to support the next generation of innovators!

It is a bonus if you are interested in or have experience in one of the challenge topics.
WHAT IS INVOLVED?

Your responsibilities include:

-
Supporting up to 3 teams of high school students through research and ideation.
-
Providing ~5 hrs of mentorship per team via zoom or email.
-
Guide preparations of the final presentations to be shared during the symposium.

Importantly, your role is mainly to guide them in the right direction. It does not mean doing their research for them or offering additional resources / laboratory time.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
-
Get to connect with other mentors, who represent the best and brightest of Australian STEM innovation.
-
Become inspired by the student's unique solutions to the world's problems.
-
Give back to your community and be the reason why someone chooses a career in STEM.
-
Important in strengthening your career whether that's technical or people leadership
