SYMPOSIUM 2024

On the 14th of October, 2024, the BIOTech Futures team hosted our annual Symposium, which brings together and celebrates our Challenge participants. Guests were able to hear from our finalists and leading guest speakers, meet all the teams and their projects during poster presentations, and take part in interactive biotech stalls, workshops and prizes throughout the day.

Professor Matthew L. Becker, Ph.D.

Among many distinguishes, Matthew L. Becker is the Hugo L. Blomquist Distinguished Professor of Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering & Material Science, Biomedical Engineering and Orthopaedic Surgery at Duke University. His research team is focused on developing bioactive polymers.

Dr Lucy Buxton has worked in toxicology, coral biology and science policy in a range of international marine research facilities, and is a Board Director of Ocean Decade Australia. She has led marine sustainability research and biotechnology programs in Australia for 20 years.

Journey building two global AI tech companies with

Dr. Don Perugini

Dr Don Perugini is an entrepreneur and AI expert, with over 20 years experience in research and commercialization. The first 10 years was spent as an AI scientist in the Dept of Defense, collaborating with DARPA US defense research agency. Don founded ISD Analytics and Presagen, which operated in the USA and Australia.
